Will I actually be able to use it?
Yes. DentalFolio is deliberately simple.
If you're comfortable using your phone's photo gallery, you'll be comfortable using DentalFolio. It follows the same mental model, organised around patients and cases rather than albums. Most dentists find they're using it confidently within minutes.
Is this like Dropbox?
No. It's built for clinical use, not just storage.
DentalFolio is designed around how clinical photography is actually used: by patient, by case, and for clear before-and-after presentation, with consent information kept alongside the images.
How does this save time?
By removing friction at the moment it matters.
The real time sink is finding the right images when they're needed, often just before or during a patient conversation. DentalFolio keeps photos organised by patient and case, removing the need to scroll through unrelated images.
Photos captured in the app are also automatically oriented, reducing small points of friction that add up over time. The result is a calmer chairside experience with fewer interruptions to flow.
Where are my photos stored? Is it secure?
Security and compliance are built in.
Images are encrypted and stored on secure, EU-based cloud infrastructure designed for sensitive data. Access is controlled at account level, and images are not used for analytics, advertising, or AI training. If devices are changed, images remain available after logging in.
What about consent and GDPR?
Handled as part of the workflow.
DentalFolio supports structured consent recording, allowing documentation of how images are intended to be used, such as for clinical records or education. A clear audit trail is maintained if needed.
Responsibility remains with the clinician. The app supports good practice but does not replace professional judgement.
Will phone photos be good enough?
Yes, in most cases.
Modern phone cameras, used with appropriate lighting, are well suited to clinical photography. DentalFolio's guided capture additionally supports consistent framing and orientation. DSLR images can also be imported if preferred.
What if I want to leave? Can I export my photos?
Yes. Your images always belong to you.
You can export your entire library in bulk, or select individual images within cases. There is no lock-in. If DentalFolio isn't the right fit, your images can be taken elsewhere.
Do you support both iOS and Android?
Android support is currently in development.
iOS is fully supported and available for download on the App Store.
Can I use it on my computer?
DentalFolio includes a desktop companion that allows you to upload photos and present your folio from a computer.
